The Wisdom of Working With a Certified Financial Planner™

I’m getting closer to reaching a huge milestone: my 25 year mark of working in Finance. I’ve been honored to share many magical moments with some very good people – my clients.

I have seen a lot. I have heard a lot. I have learned a lot, too. And now I share this wisdom with clients to help them reach their goals with financial confidence.

I have seen three serious bear markets or what some may recall as “the end of the world as we know it”. I have also seen some of the greatest bull markets of our generation. I have seen wealth blossom beyond expectation. I have also seen wealth evaporate and disappear. I have seen a loving couple go from having no idea where they spend their money to buying their dream home in the Hamptons.

I have seen calm and steadiness come those who experienced a life altering event including losing the love of their life and losing a job suddenly. I have seen new couples combine their lives together, both financially and emotionally. And I’ve seen their babies born and how they age through the years. I have seen the joy and excitement of transitioning into a life of retirement. I have also seen the worry and concern that goes along with this change.

And I have seen confidence grow as we built a financial plan that has meaning and inspiration. I was there as a trusted adviser and cherish my role as their experienced guide.

I have heard a lot, too. How do I invest this money that my parents left me? How will I manage with my husband gone? How will I manage without the love of my life, now that she has passed? Shouldn’t I know how to invest my 401(k)? Am I on the right track? How much do I need to be saving to retire at 50? at 60? How do I support a life of micro-retirements? How will we put the kids through college?

How can we take care of ourselves when we get old so our kids won’t have to? How do I leave a gift to my church, my alma mater, or my favorite local charity? How do I coordinate my work benefits with private benefits for maximum coverage? Will you go with me to the attorney? Will you speak with my accountant? There is so much bad news everywhere should we stop investing?

And one of my all time favorites, which is the real reason I do what I do, it’s when I hear the words, “thank you…I’m really glad you are our adviser”. There is a lot of good that comes from working with an experienced Certified Financial Planner™.
