I launched my career in finance in 1993 and spent the following decade working on Wall Street for Bankers Trust Company, Morgan Stanley Trust Company, and Chase Manhattan Bank (now JP Morgan Chase). Climbing the corporate ladder the old fashioned way demanded hard work, dedication and excellent client service. Clients included mutual fund companies, insurance companies and hedge funds.During that time, I worked with some very smart people in the industry, from whom I learned a great deal about finance, how to deliver outstanding value to clients and gained great insight into the investment world. This experience provided the foundation of knowledge and ethics that I continue to draw upon today.
After ten years of living and working in NYC and following the events of 9/11, I felt it was time for me to make a change. I moved to the beautiful southern Adirondack Park, where the mountains are gorgeous and sparkling clear lakes are everywhere. Inspired by the natural environment around me, I developed a deeper passion for financial planning and wealth creation, shifting my client focus from large financial companies to individuals and business owners.
Sloan Advisory Group, Inc. (SAGI) was born out of this shift. It was founded to provide clients the best experience while navigating through their financial lives. And to make a world of difference as a trusted financial advisor.
Clients come to SAGI because they are tired of the anonymity that comes with dealing with large financial companies. They want to work with an experienced professional that knows them, knows what they are about, and knows how to help them make smarter life decisions. At Sloan Advisory Group, we build real relationships with our clients.
When it comes to credentials, I hold the gold standard designation and certification in the financial advising world: the Certified Financial Planner™. This designation further demonstrates my commitment to my clients to be a leader in my field. As a CFP®, I have completed both extensive training and experience requirements, and am held to rigorous ethical standards. I also hold the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) designation, awarded by the College of Financial Planning. I am a graduate of The State University of New York at Albany, with honors.
In my local community, I have proudly served as President of the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Southern Adirondacks and as a Board Member for The Glens Falls Area Youth Center. I currently serve on the Legacy Planning Committee for the Adirondack Mountain Club, Inc. (ADK). I am a supporter of Storm King Arts Center in Mountainville, NY, Moreau Lake State Park, and numerous other charities in my region. You can usually find me at the local Farmers Market on Saturdays supporting our local farming community. And whenever I can, I am out exploring the beauty of the mountains and lakes of New York’s great wilderness, the Adirondack Park, either on foot or on my motorcycle. You can check out my motorcycle articles authored for my local newspaper here.
